At Andrew’s what you see is what you get. We do what we say on the tin. When we called the shop Andrew’s Quality Butchers twenty years ago it was because of Andrew’s dedication to prepare quality meats sourced from farmers who are also working to standards of excellence.
This enthusiasm for sourcing the crème de la crème of fresh meat has seen Andrew trial a range of suppliers from across the United Kingdom over the last twenty years. The trick has been not only to find high welfare farms providing great produce, but suppliers who can do so consistently.
In the last five years this search for excellence has turned our full attention to specialist local farms that really care about the meat they produce, insuring full traceability and top quality produce.
To make sure we provide you with that specialist quality year round we work closely with two local experts who know exactly what we’re after. They help us to source the best beef and lamb from a selection of three or four trusted local farms as the seasons change and months go by. At any time we are able to let you know where your beef or lamb has come from, so don’t be afraid to ask.
We sell a selection of Gressingham duck all year round, another brilliant Suffolk producer. At Christmas we sell turkeys and Geese to order from a trusted Suffolk farmer we turn to year after year. Christmas is also the best time to find English venison, partridge, pheasant and guinea fowl.
Of course there are some products that our friends on the continent just do better: we source some of the finest European salamis, Parma and Serrano ham, and exquisite patés.
Meanwhile our cheese supplier Ben has been working with us for many years to build up a fantastic selection of artisanal English and continental cheeses. Every now and then we’re lucky enough to have Ben in store with some delicious tasters and answering questions on how the cheeses are produced.
